Utsuvaara's Gielas is inspired by the ruggedly beautiful landscapes of the surrounding Lapland, and the buildings' formal language has an edgy, stonework-like edge. The ground floor apartments are clad in sturdy slate, while the upper floors are clad in coniferous wood.

The apartments in A wing face the majestic peak of Levi, while those in B wing look out over the slopes towards the southern fells.
